These herbs have reduced leaves and they are very succulent plants. They thrive on other hosts, because the plants are parasitic. They can be found in Mexico, Columbia, USA and even some parts of Romania.

The climate they enjoy is a subtropical one as well as a temperate one.

Pollination is how they reproduce and the plants are also hermaphrodite.
The roots are spreading horizontally and the stem is  subterranean. The color is white to brownish and it contains  stalked, glandular hairs.
The leaves resemble scales and are spirally displayed.
The fruit is dehiscent shaped as a capsule.
